Definition of law

Right to temporarily limit a company's use of your personal data. Remember to specify the duration of this limitation in your request!

Avoid going from 1 to 0

You have the right to request the freezing of your data when a company is about to erase it. Thus, you have the guarantee that they are kept, the time that you recover them by using your right of access or that you transmit them to another platform thanks to your right to portability .

A full or complementary right

Requesting a freeze on the use of your data for time allows you to have time on your side to obtain your new identity document, for example. It can also be used as a complementary right to others. Indeed, this allows you to apply your other right temporarily while waiting for it to be validated by the organization, as explained above.

Limitations of the right

Your right to limitation may not apply in the cases of:

  • establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims

  • protection of the rights of another natural or legal person

  • public interest of the European Union or of a Member State
