The DARE search engine
What happens when a company sends me my data?
When you ask a Company to send you the data it has on you, the Company loads the data file into its interface to send it to you.
Steps
The file is saved in a secure space for which you hold the secret key (through your identifiers and your DARE Cookie). No other individual or company can access your storage space.
DARE performs an analysis of the transmitted file. We do not read the content of the file, that is to say your data, but the type of data transmitted to you by the Company. For example: we do not read the details of your purchases and the amounts, but we record that Company AB provides two types of data: purchase and amount.
At any time, you can consult the list of data sent to you by the Companies in the “My data” area. You can then recover or delete these files from your secure space. This data is yours, you do what you want with it.
Why does DARE read the header of my data file?
In order to better understand the data collected by Companies, DARE analyzes the header of the data files that you receive from them.
Ultimately, our objective is twofold:
be able to provide precise information to all Users about the types of data that Companies hold about them
be able to inform the Individual of the nature of the data that they should obtain from a Company
We insist on the fact that we do not read or record the details of your data received. It would go against our values and the raison d'être of DARE.
What does DARE do with the messages I exchange with Companies?
When you exercise your rights with a Company, you interact with it through our messaging service.
Where are the messages stored?
We choose to store the messages exchanged in our IT departments.
Ideally, the messages you send and receive are sent directly to your device (computer, tablet or smartphone). So we wouldn't have access to it.
Disadvantages of direct transmission in the case of DARE
As DARE does not detect when you are logged in to your account, we would not know when to send messages directly to you.
If a message was sent to you and you were not logged in, this message would never reach you and we would not be able to resend it to you since we would not have access to it in our IT departments.
Benefits of choosing DARE
Given the nature of the messages exchanged (exercise of a European regulatory framework), at SYNED, our conviction is that you must not miss any message from any Company. Likewise, a Company must be able to receive all of your messages that fall within the exercise of your regulatory rights.
Finally, in the event that there is a dispute, or even a complaint filed with a competent body such as the CNIL, we would be required to provide material proof of the facts put forward, in this case, the messages exchanged between you and the Company.
The choice of the storage of the messages which we make therefore falls under our wish to assure you the full guarantee of the good exercise of your rights.
Notes on instant messaging
Really secure instant messaging applications, which respect the privacy of their users to the letter, should use direct transmission technology: messages would not be stored temporarily in a space between you and your interlocutor, they would be transmitted directly. The reality is that today, no messaging system uses this technology, because the content we exchange is analyzed in detail for advertising purposes, and customer knowledge (our areas of interest, what we like or not , our relationships, our journeys and trips, etc.) All this raises the legitimate question of respect for privacy by these messaging services.
What happens when I give a satisfaction rating to a Company?
When you judge that the answer given by your interlocutor satisfies your request, you are led to validate the request and give your satisfaction rating.
Only your interlocutor sees the note and only when you assign this note
Once your assessment has been made, the Company takes note of the rating you gave it, in the form of a notification. Once this notification is complete, the Company can no longer know the rating you gave it, or even know that it was from you. The Company, for its part, knows its average score on DARE and the number of scores received, but cannot know or contact the Individuals who have left it such and such a score.
Do other individuals on the platform see my note?
No. Other Individuals can only consult the average level of satisfaction of Individuals for a Company and the number of votes cast. But no User (Individual or Company) can know who gave which rating to which Company and when.
Can a Company contact me on DARE?
No. DARE protects its users from this practice. No Company can get in touch with you. Only you can initiate contact in the context of a request relating to your data.
When your request is in progress, the Company can write to you, and you can respond to it. However, when you validate the request, it is automatically closed on the Company side and your contact can no longer write to you on DARE.
Can I contact any Company?
Yes. You can exercise your rights with any Company in the world, even if you are not a client of that Company. You have the right to know and to ask your questions, as stipulated in the European Regulation on the Protection of Personal Data (GDPR).
Am I visible on DARE?
No. DARE protects all of its Users (Individuals and Businesses). No one can see if you are logged into your account or not. Not even DARE's IT departments. Our policy is not to follow the actions of its Users. Likewise, you cannot know if other Users are connected or if your contacts on the Business side are also connected.
What happens when I erase my data from DARE or delete my account?
With DARE, when you exercise your right to be forgotten or when you delete your account, it is the same. Thus, you are guaranteed the proper application of your rights.
Steps
All your personal data and others are compressed in a file that DARE makes available to you in your personalized and secure storage space.
All of your data is erased from DARE, including your account login credentials. Your data and your account no longer exist.
A download link for this file is automatically emailed to you. You then have two days to download the file. After this time, the file is deleted.
If you do not download the file, we will not be able to generate it again since we will have erased all your data as you wish.
No data that can be traced back to you, or that is specific to you, is stored in our systems:
email addresses, date of birth, phone number, etc.
your data transmitted by Companies, your messages, etc.
What data can I recover from DARE?
Recover your data
Go to the “My data” menu. You then have two types of data:
platform-specific data
the data you have entered
data from your use of the platform
data received from companies
Types of data available for download
Data specific to the DARE platform
login data
identity data
contact details and postal details
additional email accounts
list of identified companies and addresses of shippers
number of messages received from each identified Company
digital print
rights exercised with the Companies of your choice
messages exchanged with companies
satisfaction ratings assigned to each Company
Data received from Companies
Each data file transmitted by each Company
Why enter my identity, my contact details and my telephone number?
your identity
Your identity is essential for us to ensure a response to your requests from Companies. Indeed, these have a legitimate need to make sure that you are indeed the applicant, and not a third person who would try to impersonate you.
Your postal coordinates
Your mailing address is only useful to us in the event that we are unable to reach you by telephone or electronically. In addition, some Companies may ask for confirmation of your identity by verifying your postal address.
Our engagement
We will never share your postal details with anyone.
Phone number
Your mobile number is used by us to:
verify your identity when creating your account and ensure that it is not an attempt to impersonate a third party
contact you in the event of a problem that you have informed us of
Our engagement
We will never share your phone number with anyone. In addition, you will not receive promotional offers from us by SMS.
Email and additional email account
Your login email is used to:
verify your identity when creating your account and ensure that it is not an attempt to impersonate a third party
notify you of important new events relating to your use of DARE:
validation of the creation of your account
receipt of data from a company
taking into account the exercise of your regulatory rights with DARE
recovery of your data
closing your account
Your additional email addresses are used to:
identify the Companies that have your personal data
calculate your fingerprint
Our engagement
We will never share your email addresses with anyone. In addition, you will not receive promotional offers from us by email.
Am I required to provide my additional email accounts?
No. On DARE, you are free to exercise your rights as you wish.
By adding your additional email accounts, DARE succeeds in identifying the Companies that have your personal data. Then, DARE calculates your fingerprint. You can then exercise your rights directly with these Companies that we identify for you.
You can also exercise these same rights without connecting your additional email accounts. For this, the search engine allows you to find the Company or the website of your choice.
Benefits of connecting additional email accounts
Adding your additional e-mail accounts provides you with a fast and efficient service and avoids you having to carry out multiple searches on our search engine. But, you remain free to do as you wish.
In addition, when you connect your other email accounts, DARE discovers new Companies which are then used to inform all Individuals on the platform.
Does DARE read the content of my emails?
No, in principle. Unlike other market players who offer to connect your email accounts, we do not read the content of your messages. We only read the address of the sender and the date of receipt of the message received from him.
Does DARE save the password for my email accounts?
No, in principle, again unlike other market players. We do not collect your passwords.
When you connect an email account to DARE, you interact directly with your email and not with DARE. Your email then automatically generates a file that we keep to maintain the connection to your email account. As soon as you delete an email account from DARE, we delete this file. We can therefore no longer access your business senders.
This is why, if you change your mind and decide to connect this same email account again, you will have to re-enter your password with your mailbox which will again generate a file saved in DARE.
This may seem painful for some Users, but it is a choice of security and transparency that SYNED makes.
It should be noted that this file transmitted by your mailbox can only be used by DARE and only from your account, since it is generated between your mailbox and DARE, with your agreement.
As few electronic mail services offer this level of security, we limit the addition of email accounts only to those which guarantee such a high level of requirement: Gmail and Microsoft.
The DARE search engine
Origin
DARE has independently developed its own web search engine. It is not based on any other search engine. We work every day to feed it, monitor its results and make sure it meets your needs.
Functioning
The DARE search engine allows you to perform any search. You may want to search for:
a Company to consult its website or exercise your rights with it
websites that answer a question or a wish on your part
Our search engine is used like the well-known search engines on the web.
Using the DARE engine
Your research
When you type a search into the DARE engine, it brings you the results it thinks are the most relevant among the websites it finds around the world every day.
If you can't find what you are looking for
DARE remembers your search (the keywords) so that we can provide you with an answer if your search is re-typed by an Individual (you or someone else). The new results that the engine will be able to offer you may be useful to you, and if they are not for you, they will certainly be for them. other Individuals.
Your research allows our engine to grow and enrich itself to better meet your expectations.
When you find what you are looking for
If you click on a hyperlink proposed as a result of your search, DARE records your click to perform basic statistical calculations that we offer to the Company which is a DARE client:
How many clicks were there on your website this month?
How many Individuals have clicked on your website this month?
We only transmit these two numbers and never any data which is attached to you directly or indirectly and which would allow Companies to target you through emails or advertisements on the web.
Guarantee of respect for your privacy
Your use of the DARE engine is incognito
Whatever you are looking for, whatever website you click on from the search engine, DARE does not sell anything or share your data.
No Company present on DARE can know what Jean-Gaston Dupont (or jeangaston.dupont@monemail.fr ) searched for on the engine or the websites he visited from the DARE engine.
No intrusion into your life, no ads, nothing
Also, the Individual can perform any search and visit any site from DARE, he will never receive targeted advertisements from these websites because of DARE.
However, once on a third party website, DARE cannot guarantee the same security. It is therefore possible that by going to a third party website from DARE, the Individual will receive advertising from that site, but because of that third party website and not from DARE.
Our apologies to Mr. Jean-Gaston Dupont for the use of his surname which serves here as this example ...
DARE's bet
We are making a drastically different choice from other search engines by not marketing your search or click data.
Offering you our engine is also a daring bet because it is still young and still requires a lot of adjustments to meet all expectations.
But we are betting that the DARE engine will be able to develop precisely because it preserves everyone's privacy. It can develop more quickly the more you use it with confidence .
However, it will be necessary to know how to remain indulgent and to excuse the mistakes of his youth, as well as his sometimes hesitant answers to some of your questions.
